TL Sea Travel was started by Dive Center owners Truxton & Lavonne Terkla in 2000, in an effort to help people experience scuba diving in different parts of the world. Although they ran trips to several Caribbean destinations since the mid 1990’s, Lavonne & Truxton were, at first, only interested in warm water diving, then simply coming home – completely missing out on the culture and other adventures these destinations had to offer.
In 2001, during a check-out trip to Thailand, Truxton met someone named Ernie (formerly of Scuba Travel Ventures) who transformed the way they conducted trips. Ernie suggested Truxton add a variety of excursions to his trips to experience the local culture, shopping, as well as the diving. After doing a 4×4 jeep safari, riding a water buffalo, river-rafting and experiencing local delicacies, Truxton was a believer! There WAS more to traveling than just diving! The TL Sea Travel philosophy was born!
Truxton & Lavonne also felt it was extremely important to check-out a destination before bringing a group, to ensure safety, quality and value. From hot water to the firmness of the beds and quality of food, each detail is scrutinized. The diving, if offered, must be world-class, as well as the diving staff – anything less is unacceptable. If people are placing their trust in a travel company, TL Sea Travel feels it is their duty to deliver everything as advertised. Moreover, it should be a “turn-key” event with only pleasant surprises!
